Subject SGS-000 Codename: “Set”
Date: 2020-09-24 02:02 am (UTC)SGC-516SGS-000 Codename: “Set”Potential Level: Extreme
Threat Level: Extreme
Gender: Male
Radiant Abilities: Control and projection of lightning and electricity
Company Value: Billions, and potentially more
Capture Priority: Priority 1
Elimination Priority: None. Set should be taken alive, barring the destruction of Sumeragi Group.
Subject SGC-516, hereafter referred to as “Subject Set” or “Set” for brevity, is one of the greatest Candles that Sumeragi Group has ever turned up in its history of Project Prometheus. Subject Set was located in the United State by a satellite Sumeragi crew investigating early reports of anomalous magical activity. Though it is rare for Sumeragi Group to operate openly outside of Japan, the anomalous reports coming out of the rural American midwest warranted investigation. Away Team 763 (AT-763) managed to find quite the gem while seeking out explanations for an unusual amount of lightning strikes in the area. Upon observation, it was discovered that the lightning strikes seemed to be coming from a young man, age of 15. It seems the boy had recently experienced “ignition” of his personal flame, and was trying it out in secluded areas. The activity was picked up by the US National Weather Service, and proved easy enough for AT-763 to track down. Upon gathering some data without being detected, AT-763 requested authorization to extract the subject back to Japan, for storage in facility Sigma-444, or “The Stratacombs.” Authorization was given upon analysis of field data.
Subject Set was stolen from his home in the dead of night, and AT-763 disposed of the other residents and the home itself by means of our usual methods. Set was sedated, restrained with orichalcum bonds, and extracted back to Japan.
Once studied, Set proved to be an incredible asset, if incredibly difficult to restrain. It turned out, Set's lightning strikes well had the capability to rival the natural phenomena in power generation. While under duress, Set was capable of regularly generating lightning blasts reaching over 5 gigajoules at a time; Subject Set was not limited to 'creating' one bolt at a time, either. Suffice it to say, Subject Set had the potential to create enormous quantities of electricity from nothing at all. And while we have long understood that magic is not subject to the laws of physics as we know them, it is still almost alarming at Set's overall potential. This is a boy who has only recently ignited. What potential does he truly have, I wonder...?
Addendum 1, Date [REDACTED]
Subject Set has produced enough electric energy in our capacitors to power The Stratacombs for the better part of the next century. His physical health has deteriorated largely from the strain of using his Flame. Most Candles' wills would have broken by now, becoming compliant like cattle, but Set's eyes burn with hatred and rage. He rarely speaks, save for growls and grunts, and he looks upon his handlers with disdain. His attitude has earned harsher treatment from some of the guards on staff, with some refusing to feed him via his IV tubes. These guards have been reported to senior authority. Subject Set is too valuable of an asset to lose to starvation.
Addendum 2, Date [REDACTED]
Over my objections, Sumeragi Senior Staff have decided to proceed with the experimental Glaive Knight project, with Subject Set being the chief prototype for the perfected operation. Although the Glaive Knight project's earlier attempts were failures, leading to the deaths of subjects used in those operations, it seems Command has enough faith in that team's progress to risk a very valuable asset. Although Subject Set has grown more combative and difficult in recent years despite his weakened state, Command feels we will get more value out of glaiving Set than we will with present operations. Our projections on our current course will be that Set will expire in a matter of months from his Radiance burning out. Glaving, should in theory, stop Set's degradation, along with using the implants to more directly control him, as a sort of... mind control. Nominally, this will make him an asset against Nightfall, but moreso as an enforcer of our collective will at Sumeragi.
At the risk of editorializing, I have my doubts about this path, professionally speaking. If the procedure fails and Set dies, we are out a valuable test subject. Moreover, I have more recently observed that... Subject Set's natural regeneration seems to be... significantly better than average, casting doubt on his estimated date of expiration. He appears to heal at an accelerated rate, but there is no data as to why. If the procedure succeeds, we are making him more powerful than he ever was before, and his power has only grown in desperation since we acquired him. And while this means he could provide far more energy than we could dream of, the implication of granting him that strength is dangerous. Should he ever break loose, he will become unarguably one of the most powerful beings on Earth that we have record of. They will invite the wrath of Raijin himself on all of us.
Candles are dangerous. We know this, and that is why Project Prometheus was established. If we are to ensure we are not replaced, we cannot go about empowering them as weapons even if we believe we can control them.
Addendum 3 Date [REDACTED]
The procedure was successful, against all odds, with SGC-516 now being formally re-designated to SGS-000, though his codename remains. Subject Set has become infused with a Glaive, turning the sclera of his eyes a haunting pitch black when his power is in use. Additionally, he is able to summon his combat armor upon authorization of Sumeragi staff. So far, Set has remained docile, and the mind control appears to be working. He is outputting even more energy than predicted, and we have enough electricity to power HQ for the forseeable future.
I still have a bad feeling about this; though that may be my own biases about the danger in the Glaiving process. It's still risky, very expensive, and we do not know if there are any side effects, or if everything is even working as intended.. For now, only a handful more procedures for Glaiving are even being considered; most of our candidates are too young to survive the process.
Addendum 4 Date [REDACTED]
Our worst fears have been realized. Subject Set has escaped. Set simply played along with the “mind control,” acting like a good little wind-up doll for months on end. Command had deployed Set with Away Team 039 in Russia on a mission to destroy an elder vampire. Target was indeed destroyed by Set, but once AT-039 let their guard down, Set forcefully dismissed his power armor, and annihilated the team with an electrical attack of unknown origin. Final transmission called out something about “chains.” It took dental records to identify the team, so badly were they charred by whatever hit them.
I warned them about this. Thankfully, no other Glaive projects had been taken on since the completion of Subject Set's, and the Glaive Soldier program has been mothballed pending better mind-influencing... or at least, better indoctrination to ensure the loyalty of future Glaive Knights. Unfortunately, that does us no good about SGS-000, who is now loose in the world. His GPS tracking device has been overloaded; no doubt short-circuited, and perhaps removed, by the man himself. Worse, Set has seemingly learned how we track anomalies, and has kept a low profile. He's out in the world now. We don't know where. He knows how our away teams operate, and has learned enough in his time as a Glaive soldier to start interfering with our operations.
So now we're out a priceless test subject, a ton of capital for the glaiving operation, and who knows how long on Glaive Soldiers in general. Command really screwed the pooch on this one, but they oddly don't seem all that worried about it. ...Have they found another promising test subject, I wonder?

Initial Report [08/21/2009]
One of our Project Prometheus probe teams returned an odd finding right under our nose. In keeping with our regular procedure of sweeping orphanages for potentially latent Candle subjects, Agent Mu-7 located a strange anomaly in the orphanage located in Sinner's Row. A strange young boy, one with bright blue eyes and golden blonde hair, out of place among the other orphans. He did not appear Japanese by any stretch, and when inquired, the headmaster said he had no idea where the boy came from. He reported that the police brought him as a baby; his parents were presumed dead after an accident of some sort, but no bodies or identification had been discovered, even the boy's name.
Agent Mu-7 managed to get close enough to the boy to test him for potential Candle power... and was startled by what he found. Allegedly, the potential estimation device malfunctioned from some sort of variable overflow. This behavior has only been observed one other time, and suggests Subject SGC-7439 might grow into an extremely powerful Candle one day. Additionally, another curiosity was found; 7439 contained a similar radiant biorhythm to Subject SGS-000, or “Set,” suggesting 7439's power might be similar, if not an identical match.
SGC-7439, hereafter referred to as Subject Jupiter or Jupiter, might further bolster Sumeragi's research supremacy and might single-handedly help push Project Prometheus years ahead of schedule if he grows up to be as powerful as estimated. Advise Command to strictly monitor Jupiter from afar, so that we may take him when he comes of age to ignite. We cannot afford to waste any time on dithering once he does, and should he remain up for adoption, detaining him will be simple. A standard “runaway orphan” storyline will be enough to deter police investigation.
Some of my colleagues have suggested simply taking the boy right now, but given the recency of Mu-7's inquiries about the boy and his... unique looks, I believe that will raise questions and bring suspicion onto us. We cannot afford this risk at this time, especially after what happened with SGC-7128.
Addendum 1 [09/02/2009]
Subject Jupiter is now unaccounted for. Although we have kept the orphanage at Sinner's Row under observation since discovery, it seems at some point he was removed from the premises. We are currently investigating as to how and why this happened.
Addendum 2 [10/20/2009]
Investigation into the Sinner's Row orphanage is now complete. There are no formal adoption records tied to Subject Jupiter, and thus, no paper trail to follow. Other children at the facility said that the boy had been adopted, but we know this is impossible legally. We have concluded that the headmaster of the orphanage almost assuredly had Jupiter moved elsewhere. Currently we are unsure if he was onto us for who we were, but given the clumsiness of some of our Agents and Away Teams that led to media coverage over missing persons reports during the past twelve months, we cannot rule out that he suspected something amiss.
It is this researcher's opinion that the headmaster should be taken for questioning, once a sufficient amount of time has passed to alleviate suspicion that his disappearance might be related to Jupiter's. SGC-7349 was the most promising test subject we've had in years, at least since Subject Set.
Addendum 3 [05/30/2010]
Questioning of orphanage headmaster is complete. Despite our most persuasive methods, the man did not divulge the location of Subject Jupiter or what he had done with him. From what we did glean, however, is that Subject Jupiter was moved out of Japan entirely, and perhaps illegally. But to where, we don't know. Even should Jupiter ignite one day, changes in the world have made detecting specific anomalies much more difficult over wide areas. The fortunate stroke of luck that led us to Set is unlikely to happen again. What was that old adage about lightning striking twice?
Nevertheless, the headmaster's remains have been dealt with. We made it appear as though he died in a car accident after his brakes gave out. We will ensure the autopsy report does not show any foul play that can be traced back to us.
For now, Jupiter's trail has gone cold.
Addendum 4 [11/05/2019]
Reports came in less than 36 hours ago of an attack on a Sumeragi armored train moving through Russia toward Eastern Europe. Armored train was said to be carrying the AI Core of Project Monarch (see case file PRJ-Monarch). Train was hijacked and attacked, leading to numerous casualties of Sumeragi defense forces, as well as the loss of Project Monarch's AI core.
Incredibly, we suspect one of the assailants might in fact be Subject Jupiter himself. Data gathered from security footage and forces suggests the assailant is a Candle of age consistent to Jupiter, with a similar physical description (golden blonde hair, blue eyes), and a Flame identical to Subject Set. Our researchers were stunned by this find, speculating at first that it might simply be a mage with a similar arcane profile. But further analysis suggests the attacks were powered by radiance, and that distinctive orb of lightning (termed “flashfield”) surrounding the subject is a hallmark of Subject Set.
Given that Subject Jupiter (and an additional unidentified assailant, see subject file ANLF-6531 “Nox”) not only dispatched elite Sumeragi forces on the train, but a Mantis-class Heavy Assault Tank, we can ascertain with some certainty this individual is indeed our long lost Candle. This is evidenced by the rough estimation of the power of his lightning strikes, which appear to be higher than Subject Set's prior to his Glaiving. Although the attack has proven incredibly costly, it suggests we have a chance of finally taking back what should have been ours nine years ago.
Additional study of the footage is underway.
Addendum 5 [11/24/2019]
A short report today. Further study into the happenings on the armored train all but confirm our theory about Jupiter. We suspect he now has ties to the Rune Guard QUILL, which operates primarily in Germany. Further, we suspect that the subject may be aligned with Daybreak Academy, in Soleil, France.
If true, this makes Subject Jupiter much more difficult to apprehend. Daybreak Academy is a very old institution, dating back before Sumeragi itself, and their prowess is not to be underestimated. We will have to take our time to figure out a way to take back Subject Jupiter from them; it may prove impossible for now.
Addendum 6 [12/08/2019]
Subject Jupiter, along with his allies at QUILL and Daybreak, is proving to be a massive thorn in our side. It seems they were not content with taking just the Monarch AI. As of six hours ago, Sigma-444, the Stratacombs, were assaulted by forces seemingly led by Jupiter and members of Daybreak Academy. Visual confirmation of Jupiter, ANLF-6531 (Subject Nox), ANLF-9933 (Subject Marduk), SGC-9025 (Subject Elpis), and more. Subjects annihilated the defense forces inside the facility, which included two Sumeragi Glaive Soldiers. Subject SGS-004 “Wrath” was killed in action, and Subject SGS-007 “Envy” is missing, presumed dead. Moreover, the Project Monarch backup servers were completely destroyed, and many test subjects of Project Prometheus have been stolen from us as well, severely hampering both operations.
This loss has staggering implications. The Stratacombs are now compromised and unusable, and will probably be destroyed, if not by the enemy, then by our cleaning crews. Who knows how much data fell into the hands of terrorists, and the amount of media scrubbing we will have to do to prevent the worst of this from getting out....
But I digress. Subject Jupiter's power has grown beyond our expectations, and worse, it seems like his Radiance is amplified by the Monarch AI somehow. We are now theorizing that Monarch's tracking waves have been re-purposed, and that they resonate with Candles in ways that elevate their Radiant output. The final moments of SGS-004's transmissions contained a song from Monarch playing in the background, and Subject Jupiter and SGC-9025's estimated power levels grew by at least a factor of three, and Jupiter appears almost invincible under its effects. Jupiter appeared to become entirely intangible to physical attacks launched by Wrath, with SGS-004's attacks simply... passing through Jupiter entirely.
One researcher suggested calling it the “Euterpe Effect.” Just what we needed. Jupiter getting an outside power boost from some sort of Muse.
Suggest submitting a proposal to Administrative Commander Nova: Project Euterpe, to research a method that mimics or counteracts the multiplier effect of the Monarch AI for our own Glaive Soldiers.
Subject ANLF-6531 Codename “Nox”
Date: 2020-09-24 02:13 am (UTC)Potential Level: Unknown, due to lack of data
Threat Level: Extreme
Gender: Female
Age: 15 to 18 (Estimated)
Known Abilities: Manipulation of shadows and darkness and strength disproportionate to her size and build. Capable magic user (unknown if daemonic, arcane, or both)
Company Value: Undetermined
Capture Priority: Priority 1
Elimination Priority: Priority 1
Initial Report [11/05/2019]
Subject ANLF-6531, hereafter referred to as Subject Nox or Nox, is a female humanoid biped, with black hair, red eyes, and pronounced horns growing out of her skull. Her appearance marks her as not wholly human, and her reported abilities suggest she is very likely a daemon of some sort. Though we currently lack enough data and intelligence to ascertain, what, exactly, she is, that classification is secondary to the fact that Nox should be considered extremely dangerous.
The first encounter of the subject was aboard the Sumeragi Armored Train heading through Eastern Europe, where Sumeragi Security Forces were quickly overwhelmed by an attack, which included Nox, several others, as well as what we believe to be SGC-7349 “Jupiter.”
Subject has been observed using the ability to manipulate shadows and darkness for both offensive and defensive purposes. Surviving Sumeragi Security Forces report that Nox was fully capable of turning any ambient shadows toward her own will. Subject was observed using them to create decoys, displace personnel out of cover, create barriers and cover, and as well as for offensive purposes. Security Forces report Nox was capable of disabling weapons by impaling them with shadow spikes. Worse, data collected from a Mantis-class Heavy Assault Tank, illustrates she is fully capable of inflicting immense structural damage to it. Damage to the tank has been confirmed to be something akin to being cut with a massive circular saw. A reminder that the Mantis Tank is expressly designed to fight daemonic threats in the Outlands, and Subject Nox, in concert with Subject Jupiter, managed to destroy one in a matter of seconds. Estimates show the combined power of Nox and Jupiter would be an insurmountable force for anything in SSF's armory short of a Glaive Soldier.
Fortunately, there were no reported deaths among Sumeragi Security Forces following the attack on the train, but there were plenty of injuries. Judging by Subject Nox's capabilities, Command suspects the subject chose to exercise mercy and restraint, which likely rules out her being completely daemonic. She exercises some form of empathy in this attack, but we should not count that she will continue acting in this fashion.
Addendum [12/08/2019]
Subject Nox appeared once more, this time in an attack on the Sigma-444 “Stratacomb” facility. Like previous, Nox managed to dispatch elite Sumeragi personnel with minimal effort, using similar methods to her previous attack. More troubling, however, is the results she achieved against SGS-004 “Wrath.” In addition to her shadow manipulation powers, she unleashed various magical spells, but we cannot ascertain if her casting is learned through arcane casting methods, or are some sort of daemonic origin. Moreover, her physical strength was enough to overcome the resiliency enchantments on SGS-004's runic armor. She ripped a mechanical leg off a Glaive Soldier. Whatever she is, Nox is far from ordinary, and is more dangerous than originally anticipated. This goes doubly so while she is in the presence of Subject Jupiter; Jupiter appears to act as a force multiplier to her abilities, while Nox ensures Jupiter can operate without being pressured.
Command desires her capture for experimentation, preferably alongside Jupiter. However, my recommendation is avoid Nox entirely, or outright eliminate her. ..Both options are easier said than done if she remains in the presence of Jupiter or in the service of Daybreak Academy.
Subject ANLF-9933 Codename “Marduk”
Date: 2020-09-24 02:18 am (UTC)Potential Level: Unknown, due to lack of data
Threat Level: Moderate Extreme
Gender: Unknown
Age: Unknown, build suggests a child
Known Abilities: Elemental Magics, including fire, lightning, and ice.
Company Value: Unknown
Capture Priority: Priority 2
Elimination Priority: Priority 3
Initial File [11/05/2019]
ANLF-9933 is a mysterious figure whose most noteworthy traits include a pointed “wizard” hat that seems to block out its face save for two glowing yellow eyes. Its other clothes also give off the impression of a spellcasting wizard out of storybooks. Subject Marduk appears to be about the size of a human child, or perhaps young adolescent. While humanoid of shape, no one has seen its face, and security footage does not offer an angle to decisively prove whether or not Marduk is human at all.
Subject was observed carrying a baseball bat, of all things, while throwing elemental magic around with seemingly careless ease. There remains some debate of whether this ease was a lack of mastery or genuine confidence. Regardless, the magic did significant damage to whatever it struck on the train, though pointedly, no Sumeragi Security Forces died due to Marduk's magical assaults, suggesting Marduk's skill is either well developed or entirely green.
Not much data has been developed from its initial attack on the Sumeragi Armored Train. Subject Jupiter and Subject Nox have gleaned the most attention by our science teams, but I am certain Subject Marduk is of interest as well. What readings we do have suggest it is much more powerful than meets the eye.
Addendum 1 [12/08/2019]
Subject Marduk has reappeared in the attack on Sigma-444, the Stratacombs. Initial encounters with security forces remained consistent with it on the armored train about one month ago. However, it quickly became apparent that Subject Marduk may be more than we initially took it for. During the battle with SGS-004 “Wrath,” Marduk displayed even more powerful displays of elemental magic than we measured from it before. It even appears to be capable of channeling magic through its baseball bat, of all things. Marduk showed confidence enough to strike Wrath with an ice-infused swing; the physical aspect was minimal, but the ice certainly proved effective.
Later in the fight, however, a strange phenomenon occurred as the Monarch AI Core emitted a strange set of waves that affected Subject Jupiter, as well as SGC-9025 (Subject Elpis). Jupiter and Elpis are confirmed Candles, and given the Monarch AI was developed with the intention of locating, identifying, and possibly controlling Candles, it being capable of effecting them makes some sense. What is curious however, is that Subject Marduk appeared to be influenced by the Monarch AI as well. We cannot confirm that whatever she did affected Marduk for sure, but given its magical output spiked to similar levels as Jupiter and Elpis, we cannot rule out this possibility.
Which leads to further questions. Marduk does not appear strictly human, but it could, in theory, possess a Flame. So far, as best as we know, the only Candles in existence are pure humans. If Marduk is not human, but has a flame, it represents a revolution in what we know about Candles and Radiance.
Command has taken a strong interest in Marduk, and believes it might be a realistic specimen to capture. Personally, it is my belief that this is not true, as Marduk has thus far only appeared in the presence of Jupiter, Nox, Elpis, and a handful of others. While some may call this conservative or alarmist, I do not believe Marduk is a viable target for study until Jupiter, Nox, and Elpis at the bare minimum, are neutralized. Even then, the wrath of the Daybreak institution is not to be trifled with, given the body of evidence they have provided us with over the past month.
Subject SGC-9025 Codename “Elpis”
Date: 2020-09-24 02:27 am (UTC)Potential Level: Unknown, due to lack of data. Estimated to be very high to extreme.
Threat Level: Extreme
Gender: Female
Age: 16-18 (Estimated)
Radiant Abilities: Teleportation, magical radiance-based weapons, magic(?), and enhanced physical capabilities beyond her size and build
Company Value: Millions, much more if her Flame can be reproduced.
Capture Priority: Priority 1
Initial File [11/05/2019]
SGC-9025, hereafter Subject Elpis, was first encountered on the raid of our armored train as it moved through Eastern Europe, which resulted in the theft of the Project Monarch AI Core. Elpis is a human teenage girl with blue hair and green eyes. We suspect that she is of American descent, but we have not been able to confirm her name or identity yet, only that she is somehow affiliated with Daybreak Academy; likely a student.
Elpis exhibited unusually playful tendencies in combat, while at the same time proving formidable. No lethal casualties were observed on the train, but our forces were still demolished with ease. Elpis was no exception, with reports that she was all but toying with our security forces. Armed with magical rapiers and guns, Elpis seemingly warped around and was nearly untouchable. No attacks connected with her, and not for lack of trying. We have no estimation on the upper limit of her teleportation range, but she can practically flash-step at will. All the while, the subject managed to injure and maim highly trained, well equipped personnel, including armor. Her weapons were magical, but her attacks still pierced through, and it is theorized she is more physically threatening than she appears.
Clearly, Elpis was illustrating immense restraint while fighting our troops, even while she toyed with them. If she had been fighting to kill, it is my opinion there would be no one left on that train alive. As of now we have no real estimate of what her power can do beyond what she already did; she's essentially impossible for any human soldier of ours to pin down. Odds are, she would also be capable of destroying a Mantis tank like Subject Jupiter and Subject Nox did, though we don't know if she could do it as expediently.
I am almost afraid to ask.
Addendum [12/09/2019]
Subject Elpis was involved on the attack on Sigma-444, “Stratacomb,” and we obtained more combat data upon her. Suffice it to say, it's more bad news. This data was compiled after Subjects Jupiter, Nox, and Marduk, because it was harder to parse. Her ability to teleport and warp around space made her much more difficult to track on anything visual, and even Radiance trackers had some trouble keeping up. Compiling this data has been, if you will pardon the lack of decorum, a massive pain.
As previously reported, Elpis neutralized on-site security forces with practical impunity. Though the elites better predicted her movements in combat, they still were unable to lay so much as a finger on her; and this time she wasn't playing around. ...This time she was also packing a massive hammer and the strength to back it. There is no doubt of her physical prowess now, as she was able to damage the reinforced floors of the facility.
We came to better understanding her offensive limitations in her fight against SGS-004 “Wrath,” but that's all purely relative. Her ballistic weaponry proved significantly less effective against the highly reinforced and runic shielding on Wrath's Glaive Armor, but given the damage she was able to inflict on the facility, had she connected with that hammer we suspect the blow would have dealt significant damage. Even though initial appearance of damage dealt by Elpis seemed low against Wrath, the point stands that Wrath was unable to lay so much as a finger on her.
Part way through the fight, Subject Elpis, along with Subject Jupiter and possibly Subject Marduk were exposed to some sort of wave effect initiated by the Monarch AI, experiencing something we are now calling the “Euterpe Effect.” Subject's Radiant powers were increased by a factor of at least three, but we are unsure if this is an accurate number. Elpis's attacks became significantly more potent, and the once somewhat ineffective guns proved much more deadly in the following moments. We do not know how much more the Euterpe Effect had on her beyond the effecacy of her ranged attacks, however, but... frankly, they would not need to do much more that her existing powers couldn't do.
Command wants Elpis captured, studied through Project Prometheus, and glaived if at all possible.
It is my professional opinion that you would have better luck having a tea party with a pit fiend than accomplishing that objective.
Subject SHS-58202 Codename “Atalanta”
Date: 2020-09-24 02:29 am (UTC)Potential Level: Unknown
Threat Level: Moderate
Gender: Female
Age: 16-18 (Estimation)
Abilities: Superhuman reflexes
Capture Priority: Priority 3
Initial File [11/05/2019]
Subject SHS-58202, hereafter referred to as “Atalanta,” appears to be a human female, with black hair, brown eyes, and Japanese ancestry. For all intents and purposes, she does not have a particularly abnormal look about her, unlike many who participated on the armored train raid. Initial data on the subject shows she does not possess a Flame. Curiously, however, Atalanta seems to have reflexes beyond the pale. Despite Sumeragi Security Forces opening fire upon her in an open train car, none of their shots connected. Observation of footage does not suggest SSF's aim being consciously affected, but rather that Atalanta somehow read their actions and avoided every shot with ease.
Atalanta was armed with a sword, its blade seemingly not made of metal. Its white coloration prior to engaging SSF suggests it might be made of bone, ivory, diamond, or some other related material. However, the weapon's durability and sharpness indicate that the weapon is likely of Outlands origin, given it cut through our custom Type 310-S assault rifles. As a reminder, the Type 310-S is rated to withstand the claws of most common Outland daemons. We cannot ascertain if Atalanta has superhuman strength to match her reflexes, or if her ability to cut through our weapons is a result of her sword, or if it is a mix of the two.
Atalanta is reported to have been the most outright vicious assailant on the train heist, with several SSF members reporting severed fingers, and many others being treated for slash wounds. It was said she appeared to be almost in some sort of berserk rage, screaming in what we believe is an archaic, age-of-sail era form of French. Strangely, Atalanta did not seem to go for killstrokes, despite having full opportunity and impunity to do so, even in spite of her seemingly unhinged assault.
Subject Atalanta was seen working in conjunction with Subject Jupiter on at least one occasion on the train, with Atalanta taking point, with Jupiter providing cover fire and support. Suspect confronting them together would make for an incredibly dangerous battle; short of a Glaive Soldier, we would estimate SSF taking serious casualties upon engaging.
Command has issued a capture order for Atalanta, curious about the source of her enhanced reflexes, which we believe would prove invaluable to SSF units and future generation Smart Tanks. Unfortunately, we do not have the whereabouts of Subject Atalanta. Recommend use of area of effect disabling weapons (e.g. Type-G immobilization grenades) in the event of location of subject, or engagement from extreme ranges.

Jailbreak appears to have struck again, this time participating on a raid on an armored train heading through Eastern Europe. Sumeragi Security Forces swear up and down they don't know how she got on board the train, and they surmise she joined, and perhaps coordinated the attack on the train. Security Forces report she used a variety of magical tricks and gadgets in combat... though she punched at least one guard out under her own power. Security countermeasures on the train were largely disabled by her, and left permanently inoperable.
She also left a message in the train's computer system telling us to improve infosec and made various insults about our “collective moms.” Moments after accessing these messages through networked computers, all devices on the network, including the building's intercom and speaker systems, blared an elaborately performed, bass-boosted, multi-kazoo cover of Tom Jones' “What's New Pussycat” at maximum volume twenty-six times in a row, and then bricked, shutting down our IT department for no less than 30 hours.
More to the point, we believe she disabled much of the security on the Project Monarch AI Core. During the time of the raid, we lost all signals and communications with the AI Core, suggesting the device was tampered with. We believe Jailbreak managed to somehow remove all of the infosec, tracking, and magical wards we placed on the AI Core, in seemingly record time. She managed to bypass every measure on it, and the Core has been untraceable ever since. This has frustrated High Command greatly, as well as the engineers that worked on Project Monarch, who believed the security placed on the AI Core was their finest work.
Clearly, we are hired amateurs, not artists.
Subject SHS-51233 Codename “Aether”
Date: 2020-09-24 02:35 am (UTC)Potential Level: Unknown
Threat Level: Extreme
Gender: Male
Age: 30s (Estimation)
Abilities: Master level swordsmanship, superior agility and strength. Mastery of lightning based elemental magic, and other elements cannot be ruled out.
Elimination Priority: Priority 1
Initial File [12/09/2019]
SHS-51233, hereafter referred to as Subject Aether, is a human male with blonde hair, blue eyes, and was seen wielding a sword and a set of fullplate armor, and is affiliated with the Daybreak Academy institution. Initial hypothesis is that Aether might be an instructor there. Subject Aether participated on the raid on the Sigma-444 facility (“Stratacomb”), along with several other observed subjects. Aether is believed to be a Mage of some sort, with a preference for martial combat first, paired with powerful elemental magic with a focus on lightning. Estimations of Aether's magical power are difficult to make, but his control is remarkable. The Department of Sumeragi Magical Studies determines that Aether's control of lightning elemental magic is nothing short of masterful.
Aether effortlessly defeated several elite Sumeragi Security Personnel during infiltration, causing significant casualties. Aether later confronted SGS-007 “Envy” in the prison block in the Stratacombs, along with ANLF-9978 and ANLF-9979. Envy's fate is unknown after the battle, but what data we were able to recover showed Aether standing toe-to-toe with Envy's prime half. Despite putting immense pressure on Envy in battle, analysts have determined Aether was unarguably holding back. As to why, we have no answer. Regardless, our estimates suggest that Aether would be capable of defeating Envy on his own, if he were to use the full brunt of his power.
Curiously, Subject Aether was initially confused for Subject Jupiter in some security footage, though Aether has determined to be taller and older. Analysts have noticed a significant amount of physical similarities between both subjects. Even though Aether's lightning is strictly arcane in nature, its visual tells are a similar blue to Jupiter's. One observer called the similarities between both subjects “uncanny,” with one theory suggesting that Aether may be Jupiter's instructor, or perhaps even family. This hypothesis is not well supported with the established body of evidence we have around Jupiter, but given the inconclusive nature of the police statements surrounding him, collectively, we may have to reexamine Jupiter's origins.
If Subject Aether is indeed related to Subject Jupiter, capturing him should become a class 1 priority, as his genetics may hold a key to producing more subjects like Jupiter.
Subject ANLF-9978 Codename “Garmr”
Date: 2020-09-24 02:37 am (UTC)Potential Level: Unknown
Threat Level: Extreme
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown
Abilities: Massive size, strength, and durability. Incredible awareness and reflexes. Armed with an incredibly sophisticated suit of magical armor, a massive sword, and a massive shield
Company Value: Estimated in the tens of millions
Elimination Priority: Priority 1
Initial File [12/12/2019]
ANLF-9978 “Garmr” is a humanoid standing at least seven feet tall in imposing black armor, carrying a sword and shield so large that most humans could not feasibly handle. Though Garmr appears to be a massive human, we are unsure if he even is one, hence his designation as anomalous. The helm of his armor appears to be fashioned off a doberman pinscher, which we presume is used to intimidate foes. The armor itself is so heavily magically enchanted it is difficult to discern just what it does. Mechanically, it appears like it should offer increased strength and incredible durability, but we have no data to determine where Garmr's strength begins with himself, and where the armor begins. The subject also appears to have superhuman levels of battlefield awareness, the source of which has not been determined. He appears to be nearly impossible to successfully ambush short of extreme range.
The amount of magical energy coming off all of the gear Garmr carries is nothing short of astounding; we suspect the weapon and shield themselves may be not of this world. Some analysts have used the word “mythological” to describe them, as they seem to carry similar mythical energy to the Sun and the Moon, but whether or not these weapons are divine or just exceptionally well-crafted has yet to be substantiated. Worse, the subject appears to have mastery of magic on top of all of these artificed weapons and armor. The kind of magical potential Garmr has is difficult to predict, but given all of the quantifiable data we have on his gear, we have concluded that Garmr's magical prowess is all but unheard of in humans, further suggesting his anomalous status.
In combat during the raid on Sigma-444 facility (“Stratacombs”), what data we were able to gather on him suggests that he is overwhelmingly powerful. Though he carries a massive sword and shield, he does not seem to favor CQC tactics, instead frequently remaining at a range as a battlefield controller. Many Sumeragi Security Forces barely caught a glimpse of Garmr before they were neutralized, with the only one who did get a good look calling him “the Space Wars looking motherfucker.” Our best data comes from his encounter with SGS-007 (“Envy”) and even then, he appeared to take upon some sort of supportive role, rather than directly offensive. Command suspects that the loss of our data collection and contact with Envy might be related to Garmr, but research teams have been unable to confirm the methods he used to do so. Research upon how Garmr may have accomplished this is underway, but given the relatively scant data we have on this hulking monstrosity and the secrecy in which he operated make him difficult to estimate. What we can confirm is Garmr is incredibly dangerous and should not be directly engaged unless he is alone. Even then, extreme caution is recommended.
Command has expressed an interest in Garmr's magical armor and weaponry, and if the designs can be replicated with current data. Senior staff believes Garmr's armor might represent a way forward for the Glaive Soldier project if we can reverse engineer it with our intelligence, or if we manage to kill or subdue Garmr for study. Analysts feel this is especially unlikely given the affiliation with Daybreak Academy or QUILL that Garmr has. Targeting him alone seems incredibly unlikely.
Subject ANLF-9979 Codename “Morta”
Date: 2020-09-24 02:40 am (UTC)Potential Level: Unknown
Threat Level: Very High
Gender: Female
Age: 18-22 (Estimated)
Abilities: Enhanced speed, strength, and durability in line with vampire subjects.
Company Value: Unknown
Elimination Priority: Priority 1
Initial File [12/09/2019]
ANLF-9979, hereafter referred to as Subject “Morta,” is a tall humanoid female, with black hair, blue eyes, and an athletic build. According to data collected, subject appears to be a vampire, albeit one that does not appear to suffer death by sunlight. Morta participated on the raid on Sigma-444 (“Stratacombs”) along with Subject Jupiter and the others. As of yet, we have not been able to determine the extent of Morta's physical or magical capabilities, but she at the very least, has the baseline of a powerful vampire. Her speed is beyond human limits, her strength is incredibly potent, and she seemingly shrugs off injury with ease.
Morta simply bowled through Sumeragi Security Forces on site with nothing more than a knife and her own strength. Even with the SSF being equipped to handle supernatural threats like vampires, Morta proved quite apt at dispatching them. Reports are unclear if any soldiers managed to injure Morta at all, let alone stop her. When working in tandem with Subject Garmr, Morta became pointedly more dangerous. The two were observed working together on site, as well as with various other subjects, most notably Subject Aether.
Morta, Garmr, and Aether engaged SGS-007 “Envy” in the detention block of Sigma-444. Morta herself directly challenged one of Envy's forms, though we suspect that much like Aether, she was holding back for some of the battle. She landed at least one clean strike on Envy before Envy's data transmission was interrupted, landing with a force that would dent an armored personnel carrier. Envy's Glaive Armor was rated to withstand such a blow, so it is unlikely this attack proved lethal to the Glaive Soldier. That said, we suspect that prolonged combat with Subject Morta might prove lethal for a Glaive Soldier in close range combat. Unfortunately, we have no data of her conflicting with SGS-004 “Wrath,” which may have produced more valuable results.
We do not believe that Morta offers much in the way of value to the company as a test subject, but capture or elimination of the subject may offer some useful scientific data for developing improved anti-vampire weaponry and armor. However, as subject is affiliated with Daybreak Academy, we believe this makes her a non-viable target in most circumstances. In conjunction with any of the other Subjects participating on Sigma-444, we believe Morta would quickly prove to be a handful; her powerset appears to be straightforward and obvious, but undeniably effective. Sometimes simple, but effective becomes much more dangerous with additional support; something of which Daybreak Academy seems to have a great deal of.
